We are currently hiring for our supply list, summer camp and school year programs.
At Last Forest School is a play-based, outdoor, all-weather program for children ages 18 months – 12 years old. We run preschool, kindergarten and school age programs. We are seeking creative, enthusiastic, outdoor-oriented educators to join our team. Our programs are child-led and follow an emergent curriculum based on the seasons, the children’s interests and the provocations found in nature.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Early Childhood Education diploma, or Bachelor of Education degree is an asset.
- Current First Aid with CPR level C.
- Clear criminal record check, with vulnerable sector check.
- Experience working with young children and experience working in an outdoor setting.
- Physically capable of working in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold) and able to walk.
distances over uneven terrain, carry a backpack and perform light lifting duties (firewood etc). - Able to perform teaching duties with enthusiasm regardless of weather conditions.
- Understand the value of risky play, emergent learning philosophies and play/place based learning.
- Show an interest in or an understanding of outdoor skills such as tarp set-up, knot tying, fire building, tool skills, shelter building.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
Description/Responsibilities:
- Help to plan and implement a diverse Forest School program for a variety of ages.
- Ensure the safety of all children while they are participating in a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to, forest play, hiking, climbing trees, creek play, cooking fires, tool work.
- Responsible for effective communication with parents regarding their child’s participation in the program.
- Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of program supplies and tools.
- Daily preparation of site and learning materials.
- Working with co-educators to plan, prepare and implement activities based on the children’s interests, seasons and current “happenings” in the forest.
- Debriefing with co-educators at the end of the day.
- Willingness to attend educator meetings, training, parent meetings and Forest School related events.
- A desire to complete the Forest School Canada Practitioner’s course, if not already completed.
